Hopa Casino is a bright-looking online casino that’s the sister site of the fabulous Karamba Casino. Both sites are run by ASG Technologies Ltd, a company that is based in the British Virgin Islands, although Hopa Casino is powered by Aspire Global International whom are based in Malta. This online casino is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority, and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.
We’ve no idea why ASG Technologies keep choosing odd names for their online casinos. First came ‘Karamba’ (which is a mis-spelling of a typical Spanish exclamation of surprise), now comes ‘Hopa’. We can’t begin to guess why ASG have chosen ‘Hopa’ as a suitable name, but then there are much more important things to consider!
100% welcome bonus up to a maximum of £200Play Now
If you’ve never played at Hopa Casino before, then there’s a special treat awaiting you – a £200 bonus plus one hundred FREE spins on your favourite slots games at the site.
This deal is only available to new players here. Your first step to your FREE cash and spins is to open an account at the casino, which is a very easy task to perform. Once you’ve completed the registration process, you can then make your initial deposit. If you want a deposit bonus, then you will need to make a deposit of at least £10. The maximum bonus (this is a 100% matched bonus) you can obtain is £200.
Once you’ve completed your first deposit, you’ll receive twenty free spins to use on the slots of your choice – but your free spins do not necessarily have to stop there. If you make a further deposit of at least £20 on your second day of membership, then you will receive another forty free spins. If you then make another deposit of at least £20 on your third day of membership, then you will also receive another forty free spins, bringing your total number of potential free spins to one hundred.
You must use any free spins you obtain within twenty-four hours of obtaining them – if you don’t, then they are removed from your account. You cannot win more than £100 from your free spins – any excess when you withdraw will also be removed from your account. You must wager your free spins winnings fifty times before you can cash out. Note that for all wagering requirements for this site, bets placed on video poker, roulette, ‘Quick Play’, ‘Hi Lo Fever’, baccarat and three card poker will not contribute towards your wagering.
Your bonus cash needs to be wagered thirty-five times before you can cash out any winnings. Note that the wagering restrictions as mentioned above also apply to your bonus money. You need to meet your play-through requirements within twenty-one days of your bonus being awarded.
Range of Games
There are three main sections to Hopa Casino – casino games, the live casino and scratch cards.
The majority of games at Hopa Casino are slots, which is to be expected and is totally acceptable, especially as the site has many of the top slots companies around providing software. There are some exclusive titles here too from NovaGames, including Egyptian Magic and Mighty Sphinx.
There are plenty of other top titles as well, such as Thunderstruck II, Starburst and Rainbow Riches.
Away from the slots, the pickings are perhaps not so numerous – just a small handful of blackjack, roulette and video poker titles. That live casino here that we mentioned has live baccarat, blackjack and roulette, all with live croupiers controlling the action.
If you like online scratch cards then you are likely to be in your element here. Hopa Casino has around twenty of them for you to try.
Pros and cons
- New here? Then grab yourself one hundred free spins
- A 100% welcome bonus up to a maximum of £200
- Online slots tournaments if you’re a ‘reel’ slots fan
- Lots of ways of getting cash into your account
- Maybe a little improvement to the site’s design might be in order?
Layout and usability
We ‘hopa’ you’ve played at ASG’s online casino Karamba, as it’s a very fine establishment indeed. If you have, then you might perhaps recognise the architecture at Hopa Casino, as it’s the same, but different! The structure is practically identical, but the colour scheme and fonts have been changed.
We’d like to say this is a good thing, but the chosen colour and font scheme is a little bit drab – basic, would be a good description. However, that ‘drabness’ is countered by the site’s use of colourful banners and game selection thumbnails. Everything functions perfectly adequately, which of course is the main thing!
You would expect that Hopa Casino has a special mobile-optimised version of its site for players who like to indulge in a little online wagering when they are out and about. Happily, your expectations will be met, and might even be exceeded!
The Hopa Mobile Casino App has most of the games that the desktop version allows you to play, including the live casino games. You will also be able to access all of your account functions – including banking – via the mobile app.
Promotions for existing customers
At the time of this review the only ‘promotions’ running at Hopa Casino were live tournaments. Here you play selected games in which the winner is the player who obtains the most cash within a specified timeframe. Those who are victorious receive cash boosts and other prizes.
We’d be much happier if Hopa Casino would see their way to creating more promotions and bonuses for existing players.
For extra reward you can join the ‘Exclusive Club’ VIP Scheme. All members of Hopa Casino are automatically enrolled in this rewards program at the ‘new member’ level, and you need to start earning points if you want to progress. You earn one VIP point for every £35 that you wager at this casino, and you need a mere ten points to progress to the next level, Bronze VIP. You can make it to the level of Platinum VIP by earning points, but the final two levels – Premium VIP and Prestige VIP – are by invitation-only. Top level VIPs receive bonus cash, free spins every month, exclusive promotions and the services of a personal account manager.
There are seven levels in total: New Member, Bronze VIP, Silver VIP, Gold VIP, Platinum VIP, Premium VIP and Prestige VIP. Note that as you rise through the levels the rate at which you can convert your reward points rises. For example, players at the ‘new member’ level are stuck with £35 per point, but as soon as they attain bronze level status that rises to £30 per point. The highest possible exchange rate is enjoyed by ‘Prestige VIPs’ whom can take advantage of a £15 reward point redemption rate.
For a long time Hopa Casino only had titles from Nova Games available, but eventually they expanded their gaming portfolio to include titles by NetEnt and Amaya, and in more recent times, Microgaming.
Those names sure make for an interesting and varied selection of titles, with slots, scratch cards and casino games (including live) all adequately covered.
There is not much else here that could be described as ‘special’, aside perhaps for a ‘casino magazine’ which is really just a brief collection of casino-related articles.
Other betting options
This site only has only casino games and slots. There is no sports betting action, nor an online bingo hall or dedicated poker room. Don’t be too disappointed though as there’s more than enough gambling goodness here to keep you throughly occupied and entertained.
We kind of guessed that we might be onto something good with Hopa Casino, as that sister casino of theirs – Karamba Casino – is one of our favourites. But while Karamba Casino has an amusing blue parrot as its mascot, Hopa Casino does not have anything, which is a bit of a shame. With a name like ‘Hopa’ you’d perhaps expect a cartoon kangaroo at the very least!
Ignoring this oversight, it’s clear that Hopa Casino remains an extremely pleasant place at which to indulge your gambling bug a little. It would be nice if a few more casino games were available, but at least there’s a live casino, plus plenty of the very best slots.
We really appreciate the numerous payment options plus the helpful support functions – live chat, FAQs, email and even a phone number. Hopa Casino do seem to have gone out of their way to create a pleasurable wagering paradise, and we heartily applaud them for it!
